Sony Story Artist!!!!

I feel like the luckiest person in the world! Just last Monday I was offered a job with Sony Pictures Animation as a Story Artist! Here's a quick run down of how it happened:

Monday - Sept 8th Blue Sky Studios got my Layout demo reel
Tuesday - Sept 9th I got a call from Blue Sky and a phone interview with the Layout people
Thursday - Sept 11th Blue Sky called with an offer! And it was a really good one! I was very pleased with it. It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but it was in the industry and I would have been foolish to not go after it. They let me know they were on a pretty tight schedule and needed to get an answer to them by Monday the 15th. I sent out a bunch of emails - one of which was to an recruiter at Sony Pictures Animation with whom I had been in contact. I asked if she knew of anything going on in Sony with Story positions. She emailed me back quickly and the ball was rolling.
Friday - Sept 12th I got a call from this recruiter saying that Sony was interested in interviewing me at their studio on Monday!
Monday - Sept 15th My interviews went better than I expected. I was relaxed, the conversation was great and I thuroughly enjoyed it all. On my way out of the parking garage, the VP of Productions came out and stopped me in my car and told me that I have the job if I want it!!! Want it?! Of course I want it!!! I was on top of the world!

So my family and I are now off to LA to live the dream of a story artist! I can't wait!!!

Glenn I'm sorry to say, but this was a dream you had, and you need to wake up from it. We need to talk about these delusions your getting. Come on Glenn snap out of it... you're affecting loads of people all around you. How are you going to pay for a home in L.A. with an imaginary job? You’re really starting to scare me... anyway I'll talk to you later about it at work.

No really, I am so happy for you... I bet you'll be the best custodian at Sony ever... don’t forget,
• To avoid bathtub rings, don't use oily bath preparations. Use a water softener if you live in a hard-water area. Rinse the tub immediately after bathing.
• If a ring does form, wipe it off with undiluted ammonia (wear rubber gloves) or a wet sponge generously sprinkled with baking soda. Rinse clean and wipe dry. For a more stubborn stain, scour with automatic dishwashing detergent or rub with a cloth dipped in vinegar.
• Clean the toilet bowl while you're away by pouring in 1/4 cup bleach and leaving it until you return.
• Keep the toilet bowl ring-free by pouring a half-gallon of white vinegar in it once a month. Let it soak overnight before flushing.
• Don't use bleach if you're already using a tank-held cleaner that's released when the toilet is flushed. The two may react chemically.
• To avoid clogging and odors, pour one cup baking soda down the bowl weekly.

And last but not least, rubbing alcohol will clean the caulking around bathtubs. It also shines chrome and glass. Liquid chlorine bleach (1/4 cup to one gallon) will also clean caulk.

(Just incase you get really sad and lonely there at Sony... Try to avoid drinking any of the above liquids that I have mentioned)

I guess when you see your friends go; you have to let them go free like a little bird, and then some day they will hopefully return back to you. Well my little bird… fly away.... fly away little bird… maybe you will come back home.

Only joking… No really… Have tons of fun Glenn... well I guess you can't have too much fun there, because of course I won't be there, so you can't possibly reach that peek of all fun-ness. So I should rather say... I hope you have a mediocre time there. And remember where you came from and why you were able to grow from a small scared child that was raised by head hunters in the South Eastern plains of Walla Walla, Washington into the best custodian/story artist a man could be, don’t ever forget that. Remember Glenn remember how I saved you from that path of sorrow. Remember Glenn… remember what Harry S. Truman said “If you can’t convince them, confuse them.” And don’t forget what your hero and fellow Klingon brother of troop 15072 Calvin J. Perkins, once said “NUQ DAQ YUJ DA'POL - NOOKH DAHKH YUJE DAH'POLE – which means “WHERE'S THE CHOCOLATE.”

Glenn I tell you these things, because you’re a friend, and because I don’t have much to do right now on this mind-numbing Saturday… but enough about me and my trials in life. I just have one more thing to say… and that is…. Glenn… Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow; Don't walk behind me, I may not lead; Walk beside me, and just be my friend..

Good Luck Glenn… Sony Needs you… America needs you … The world needs you… So go out there and kick some artistic butt, and pay off your student loans like a good patriotic tax payer.

Sincerely Your friend
Randall A. Sly
